At Park Orchards Oasis Christian Church we value our children and understand that they
are our future.  The King’s Kids program is one that is provided for primary aged children
during the church service.  It releases parents to enjoy the service while their children are
cared for.  Activities and lessons are provided so that these wonderful young people can
grasp the fundamental principals of the Christian faith in an exciting and creative way.

Purpose:
The purpose of King’s Kids is to create a learning environment whereby biblical truth can
be communicated in an age-appropriate manner.  King’s Kids aims to embrace our
children’s diversity and creativity by encouraging them to be all that God has created
them to be.  Godly character and lifestyle is explained and modeled by the leaders, and
a healthy appreciation of people and life endorsed.  We encourage the perspective of a
person’s significance in the eyes of God and their great value in their families and
community.

The King’s Kids Team:
The team of leaders for King’s Kids all hold working with children cards and are trained for working with children.  Ben & Lisa Heckathorn are primary school teachers and Ben has been trained in children’s ministry.  Chandelle Nugent is trained as a primary school chaplain and works at the local primary school (P. O.P.S).  She has also commenced a degree in Biblical Studies and has taught religious instruction in Primary schools.
Other volunteers (such as mothers) assist in the King’s Kids program under the supervision of these leaders.  All supervisors are screened according to the child protection policy of the church.
Structure:
As structure is important for young children, King’s Kids keeps the same structure every week, it is as follows:
Children are signed in by parents
It takes a few minutes to settle children and welcome them for the day.
An opportunity is given for children to speak out memory verses they have learned previously
Those who remember their bible and memory verses are given a reward, as well as those who display good character and creativity.
A brief lesson is given for the day for about 5 minutes.
A discussion of the personal application of lesson takes place for about 5 minutes
An activity or game takes place that reinforces the lesson
Children pack up the room
Parents pick up children
